At DMM2008 I presented "VDR NUCLEAR RECEPTOR IS KEY TO RECOVERY OF COGNITIVE DYSFUNCTION"

which basically explained that the PKA axis is modulated by Interferon-gamma and other immune signals (see Figure 1 in my Cioessay) and that this will therefore affect all body systems dependent on PKA, including neurons

Thank you so much Trevor....I gave this article to my psychiatrist but now I will check out the essay.

Most people I know of develop bipolar disorder in their early twenties...it makes me wonder if there are changes in the immune system at this point,or maybe something like pregnancy where things like "autoimmunity" come into play.

Could there a hormonal connection combined with a pathogen load that creates a predisposition to reactions like mania....changes in the brain at that time that coincide with a parasitized immune system?

You should be able to control your headaches like any other herx, as described in How To Manage Immunopathology. The first step mentioned there is to increase Benicar. make sure to read the Phase 2 guidelines carefully and dont increase too quickly.

If you still need to take something to reduce the pain, see Pain medications.

Should I get the flu shot?

"As a result of normal aging, inflammatory cytokine levels increase"

-Life Extension Magazine April 2008

Shouldn't that be....

"As a result of gradual accumulation of cell wall deficient bacteria, inflammatory cytokine levels increase."?

It goes on to say that inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor alpha and interferon alpha cause induction of the tryptophan-degrading enzyme indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase.

This of course screws up your serotonin levels...which confirms my belief that depression resulting from such imbalances is largely due in part to cytokine storms and their various reactions.

You can try to modulate the cytokine release...but then you leave the real enemy alone to fester.

I hate this time of the year- doctors seem to be pushing the flu shot for everyone. Here, in Ontario, we get it for free and we are being told that the strains will be well covered by it this year.

Last year, for the first time in years, and on the MP, I declined it. My doc was not too happy, but I had the best winter of my life - not even a cold! That, despite family illness, emotional turmoil and the fact that I had to travel long distance and I work in a poorly ventilated and germ- ridden high school.

Perhaps I was just lucky, or perhaps the MP has fine tuned my immune system - I am not sure. Now, I have been told that I have too many risk factors NOT to have the flu shot - I am over 50 ( who said that you decline from now on??!). I have no spleen ( but thankfully I do have a small accessory one a surgeon fortunately did not see to yank out- I believe it works), I have sarc in my lungs and elsewhere and could get pneumonia from the flu ( this despite still having lung function within normal limits) and I work in a high risk, germ filled environment. I had a pneumovax back in 2003, before my splenectomy, but have not repeated it since.

I have read that the flu shot, besides containing aluminium and mercury,  also contains small amounts of abx. Now, how do I know that those abx won't react with my MP ones? I don't and I am not sure I want to take the risk.

So, whilst I am still mulling over the decision to be shot or not,  I have a strong feeling I may give it a miss again, eat healthily, rest up, wash my hands a lot ( I carry a bottle of antibacterial cleanser with me in my purse everywhere), and rather let the MP keep my immune system humming along as well as or better than healthy folk who seem to get ill a lot more than I do. I am not telling anyone else whether to get the flu shot or not, just stating where I am at the moment and wishing that winter was over and that I could once again say that I stayed well without it!

well, i probably did he wrong thing and sped up phase two because there were no herxes for some time.

however after increasing both abx i have been developing intense headaches...at first I thought it was my thyroid meds...but now i know its herxing.....so i am goin to get back on a tolerable schedule....its interesting to know that progress is being made in new areas of my body/brain.

Sometimes we learn the hard way!  Slow and steady wins the race.

PAIN CONTROL has advice for pain meds.  Also, be particularly careful with protecting your eyes.

What to do when immunopathology is too strong - don't forget that increasing Benicar is the first recommended step - many report that a herx headache goes away with even one extra Benicar.

I am noticing muscle twitching all over my body after months of calm.

Is it possible to reverse course on the MP?

Sean,

You've only been on the MP for months.  Does the 'months of calm' include pre-MP time?

You will feel  like things are regressing, as the herx mimics the original symptoms.

You will see old symptoms come back as herx, symptoms you might have forgotten or learned to ignore.  You will see new symptoms, as the MP exacerbates previously sub-clinical trouble.

Hang in there, it's not a smooth road, as you've found out with the headaches, but it does work.

Chris

Thanks Chris..........no, I have come along way since pre mp times.........so the calm is a new thing.

Adding the second phase antibiotic is starting to bring new challanges.....mainly with headaches and shortness of breath.....but only rarely twitching...which is now gone again.

my friend is on Lamictal and has also started the MP.

Does anyone know if Lamictal is immunosuppressive?

Is Tourettes syndrome something the MP addresses?

Phase two is presenting some challanges for sure.....sometimes the same dose of abx pruduce little or no herx......then sometimes I can barely function.....muscles began twitching again.

Funny thing........I can't seem to catch my annual series of lung infections....only when  I am around sick people everything starts twitching
