Hi, first post here. I had my D metabolites tested over 1.5 months ago but it took forever to get the results back, so I got tired of waiting and just started the MP in the meantime. I thought I should still post the results here to make sure my interpretation is correct.

Symptoms: chronic fatigue, hypersomnia, brain fog, tachycardia, hypertension.

-The date the blood was drawn 25D drawn 30th June 2008, 1,25D drawn 4th July 2008.

-Which lab did the tests? Both were sent to SDS Pathology (Sydney), but they forwarded the 1,25 to Concord Hospital.

-Was the 1,25-D sample was frozen for shipment? Don't know.

-How long have you been avoiding foods with vitamin D in them? Had been avoiding them for about 3 weeks before the first test.

-How long have you been avoiding sun/lights? Also about 3 weeks before the first test. Didn't have NoIRs for the first week of that, was just using regular polarising sunglasses.

-List all meds, supplements (both prescription and OTC) you have been taking and why. Multivitamin and flaxseed oil as listed below, lysine for mouth ulcers, St John's Wort for mild depression (now discontinued), zinc only during acute illness (colds etc), paracetamol for fever in acute illness and for occasional headaches.

-When and for how long have you taken prednisone or any other immunosuppressant in any form? Never (apart from vitamin D :) )

-When and for how long did you take Vitamin D supplements (including any vitamin-mineral supplements), omega-3 supplements and/or any kind of fish oil? Had been taking flaxseed oil for 3+ years and a multivitamin with 7.5 mcg of vit D for 1 year (took a different multivitamin previously, don't know how much vit D it had). Stopped both about 3 weeks prior to tests.

-Were you taking Benicar when the sample was drawn? No.

-Were you taking an ARB or or an ACE inhibitor when the sample was drawn? No.

Test results:
1,25D: 36.3 pg/ml (87 pmol/L)
25D: 12.4 ng/ml (31 nmol/L)

Josh,

Your 1,25-D is elevated at 36.3pg/ml (the population average is 25-29 pg/ml). It is 0.77 sigma high and based on population studies,  80.90 % of the population would be expected to have a lower number.  If sample was mishandled the number would have been even higher. High levels of 1,25-D inhibit the conversion of vitamin D into 25-D resulting in a low level of 25-D. Your 25-D of  12.4ng/ml is quite low for someone who has  been  using supplements. This suggests that your actual 1,25-D is higher and the measurement of  36.3pg/ml is falsely low. The likely reason is sample mishandling.

Your D-tests, diagnosis and symptoms indicate Th1 inflammation. Please see Symptoms of Hypervitaminosis-D and you may recognize a few more. You will not get well and your health will continue to deteriorate if you don't treat the underlying bacterial cause of Th1 inflammation with the MP. Please see Is the MP an applicable treatment for my disease?

Most supplements and many medications must be avoided on the MP.

Our clinical study is temporarily closed to enrollment. As vacancies occur, we will admit subjects based on an application. To obtain an application forum, please send an email to marshallprotocol2@yahoo.com  with 'request MP application' in the subject line.
best, P.B.
