I have a thousand questions and my head is spinning after reading most of the info I could find on the MP. It was also a pleasure speaking to Dr. Marshall, thank you for getting me here. This is so exciting after having the Pulmonary specialist tell me the sarcoidosis will kill as there is no cure! Ha! I was diagnosed in October 2007 with sarcoidosis, that was the result after the biopsy. At the time I was getting ready for Breast cancer surgery and they found enlarged lymph nodes in my chest. I have granulomas in my lungs and about 5% loss. I am almost finished with my reconstruction, I have one more surgery, in August. My guess is I should wait till after the surgery, but how long do I wait? Thank you for all the wonderful info here. When I go to my doctors in the next week or so, I will be handing them info on the MP. I also have been hypthyroid since 1985.

Hi Ellen, and welcome!

If the surgery is essential to complete your treatment, it would be best to wait until after that before you start the MP.  Otherwise you would be having to stop it for surgery anyway.

If you're given antibiotics after the surgery, they need to be well out of your system before you start taking Benicar, or you might land yourself a nasty dose of immunopathology (herx) :(  Most abx clear in a few days, but some take a few weeks - let us know which you're given.

There is also the question of your strength; reconstruction is pretty major, and you'll be a bit fragile for a while.  Go extra cautiously when you start, within the guidelines of Phase 1.

Your wait is giving you time to familiarise yourself with the MP, which will be time well invested.  I'll give you some links to start you off, if you haven't already found them, and there's plenty more in the vast MP 'library'!

Thank you for your response. I have been trying to read through the documents you listed. Some of them will not allow me in to see them as Membership enrollment is closed. Any suggestions on how to access them?

Thank you, Ellen

Thank you for helping me to access this information. A lot of reading ahead of me. I have requested Doctor info, how long does it usually take to get this?

 Thank you.

Ellen

Barb,

Thank you for the Doctors list.

We just got home from a house hunting trip in Oregon. Before we left I spoke to my Oncologist about the MP. She said it would be best for me to wait until I move to get started on the program as it might not be so easy to find a doctor near to where we will be living. The closest doctor on the list you sent is about 50 miles from where we will be living. She also said that if this is a phase 3 clinical trial I might be able to get a doctor(must be a Pulmenologist) In our insurance to work with me and the insurance would pay. Is this a phase 3 clinical trial?

Thank you for all your assistance.

Ellen;)

EllenG,
Appreciate your update. Please try to remember:

This is so exciting after having the Pulmonary specialist tell me the sarcoidosis will kill as there is no cure!

Try to choose a doctor that will work with you and has a compatible business case to consider working with you on the MP. Most Pulms are not ready for that yet and your oncologist may not be aware of that detail.

You will need a certified health care practitioner to work with you on the MP.
Few have doctors who have experience using the MP. But these doctors are still capable of monitoring your health status.

Downloadable MP Documents FORMATTED FOR DESKTOP PRINTING

you may wish to invite your Dr to join the
Private Section for Health Professionals

You will likely want to find a doctor who is adept and able to work through pharmacy and insurance challenges, as many of us have already discovered.

Best to you EllenG--Janet

Janet,

I have been busy and unable to reply to you. Had major reconstructive surgery in August and just haven't felt like being on the computer.

Thank you for the info about pulmonologists. I see you live in Oregon, that is where we plan on relocating to. What part of Oregon are you in. Only ask because you might be helpful in finding that doctor I will need when I get there.

Hope all is well with you.

Thank you,

Ellen
