Hi everyone,
I am a 37 year old female who was prescribed Roaccutane last year for my Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome-caused acne. I had a history of nerve pain, disabling depression and chronic pain/exhaustion ten years previously, which I had recovered from reasonably after approx 5-6 years ( Iwas on dothiepin/dosulpein during that time). I was in work and going to the gym 3 times a week, generally keeping myself strong and fit. My acne suddenly came on at 35 (possibly not helped by the dosulpein) and my local dermatologist recommended Roaccutane after lots of different antibiotics had not helped.
After 6 weekks of awful side effects including my neck completely seizing up, I took myself off Roaccutane. I was having constipation and diahorrea, headaches and nerve pain had started on the right hand side as well as the left.
The past year has been hell: the depression was so bad that I went to a suicide respite centre. Every day I have crippling pain, headaches, visual problems and aching muscles all over. Even if I wear shoes with slightly built up heels, my neck tightens and the headaches can last for days.
My doctor has done lots of tests that have come up with nothing, apart from my brain scan showed small lesions on my brain which are apparently condusive to migraines. I feel like I am in a permanent migraine! I am back on dosulpein which is helping slightly with the depression, but I am still in permanent pain and I DO NOT WANT TO LIVE MY LIFE LIKE THIS!!
Please could someone let me know if the MP would help? My doctor refuses to do anymore tests for me and I am at my wits end. PLEASE HELP!
Any advice gratefully received!! !!
xx

Hello and welcome to the MP sites Jolene.
Quite a few persons on the MP have reported relief from migraine headache pain... many with just Benicar alone (it is an anti-inflammatory along with it's ability to restore immune function). Neurological symptoms often take longer to resolve.
Have you seen our MP knowledge base? http://mpkb.org
One the home page take a look at the first drop down menu. Look for the tests and therapeutic probe articles.

Roaccutane increases inflammation, hence the joint and back pain, not to mention the migraines.
I was on roaccutance for 4month when I was 17-19, four time, so 16months in total, with 4-6month gap between them.
Roaccutane worked wonders, but the Acne came back after 3 months of ceasing the treatment - everytime.
Roaccutane can also cause depression.
