Hi all So 3 weeks ago I got what I thought was the stomach bug. All week I was so sick I couldn't keep any down or in. as a result I had to go to the ER because I was so dehydrated that my BP was seververlly low. They admitted me to the hospital. Of corse being so sick I stopped taking my MP meds beause I couldn't keep any thing down. I have been in the hospital for 2 weeks my symtems got a bit better but as I was able to eat regular food anything I ate would just go throw me. The DRs ran all sorts of tests and of coarse would not let be on my MP meds they don't get the whole MP as a matter of fact I got in a fight with one DR about. They shipped me to a bigger hospital where they have taken me of all food. and are running test. still no answers? Also the first week in the first hospital I woke up one morning to burning eyes and very clouldy I could not see vision?? They had an eye DR look at me and he set my eye were inflammed with uirtives? Spelling I know cant spell. so he gave me drops which has helped. Personnellay I feel there must be some autoimmune thing going on but they say no? At this point I just need to beable to get back to a functioning person. I have no time left at work and if I have no income I cannot surive.Does any one have any suggestions???

Hi Adkgal,

The only help I can offer is that you get your MP prescribing Doctor to speak with both the Doctor's at the hospital and with Dr. Marshall via phone ASAP.

I'm sorry you're in such a horrible situation & hope it's resolved soon!  Someone else might have more to add.

Very best,
Natalie

I am sure it has nothing to do with your current situation but I noticed you are on 325mg of zith? 250 should be max on a two abx combo, 125 on three.

Why are you still taking Zith if you are having these problems?  is it possible that this is all herx?

The maximum dose of Zith after full ramping is 125.  For most folks it takes many months to work up to that dose.  This could be your problem.  It may take weeks for it to clear out of your system.   Upon rereading your post it sounds like you could have a runaway herx resulting from taking too much zith.  I am not a moderator.  However, as a first order of business I would get back on the Benicar as soon as possible.

Adkal,

If you have been in fact taking 325 MG of Zith you are lucky that things did not turn out worse than they did.  Zith is the one antibiotic you cannot afford to make a mistake with.   You need to do everything you can to control the immune system reaction until you get the Zith out of your system.  This can take up to 45 days and maybe longer after your last dose.  I would not take any more zith until things settle down and you are at the point that you can essentially start over.  That may take many weeks.  In the meantime take your Benicar.  I would consider upping it to 6 times a day.  Other things to consider are Quercetin and Guaifenesin.  These may help to dampen the herx back.  For some folks frequent mino dosing (50 MG every 6 to 8 hours of 50MG) may help.    In your situation I would not take any more Zith for some time and not until things settle down.  If you get to the point you can restart the Zith you need to keep it within the guidelines which establish 125 MG as the maximum dose.   Start out at a very very low dose and ramp very very slowly.

Adkgal,

Last summer you posted in this thread:
"My Dr and I read the phase two papers and I guess we have gotten confussed. We are both under the assumtion that you take the mino and zith every other day and work your way up to 500 mg?? Please let me know. about every 10 days I take a 3 day break from the zith becuase it gets to be to much. thanks ADK"
And you recently posted:
"I was told that you work upto 500mg on the Zith have they changed it?"
I do not believe it is safe for you to stay on the MP with this level of misunderstanding occurring for both you and your doctor. :(

Somethings not right. Your sig line says 325 Z every 10 days.
Now you say you take it every other with the mino? You may need to go the clindy route and come back to Zith later when your thinking is clearer.
