My 6 month old baby girl had a terrible rash reaction to vitamin D and has developed a cough that won't go away... I'm afraid she has sarcoidosis like her father. He takes blood pressure pills but hasn't sought treatment for the condition itself. I'm interested in hearing all opinions: should I research treatment options for my 6 month old baby? or just deal with the symptoms until she's older or until the symptoms become more severe?

You probably won't have any choice. The average Pediatrician will insist on waiting for the problem to go away, and will laugh outright at the concept your baby might be catching sarcoidosis. Then he/she will prescribe baby lots of Vitamin D to try and normalize her 25-D value. Or if you are unlucky, will give her a 10,000 Unit jab right then and there...

Sorry to be a bearer of bad news, but it is best to be honest about these things...

I would suggest consulting a good general practitioner or pediatrician to clarify lung situation. Likely due to bronchial or esophageal inflammation. Once reassured that it is not yet serious, discontinue all sources of Vit D, provide excellent nutrition and care. It is best to remember that the body's immune system is quite remarkable and most of us that got sick, got there because of improper lifestyle, contaminated environment and bad medicine. Later, if your child remains ill, then pursuing effective therapies will be necessary.
