Hello,
I saw my new MP doctor today (he is currently treating a few patients in here), and I am waiting for my labwork to come back and to see my pulmonologist before I start.
I have stage 2 Sarcoidosis (lung, chest nodes), Hashimoto's, and was diagnosed with CFS 20 yrs. ago. I feel okay, not coughing a lot, energy a little low, but I feel pretty good. I didn't even know I have Sarc until I was in a big collision and the xray showed a problem. Bronchoscopy/Mediastinoscopy confirmed it on 1/03/08.
I have been taking Spirinolactone 100 mg twice a day for a couple of years now. It's the only thing that keeps my face from breaking out in large, painful, uncontrollable syst-like (not at all like acne) volcanoes (!!) on the lower part of my face. With the spirinolactone, I don't break out AT ALL, and my skin is smooth and perfect. After many years of trying absolutely everything, spirinolactone is the only thing that works. I don't want to live without it.
I asked the doc if he suggested I stop (without going into the hysterics above) and he indicated he does not need me to stop. Granted, he said this without seeing my labwork.
Here are my questions:
1) If the doc says I can continue spirinolactone, should I? Of course I'll I be worried about BP and potassium... but can I cut the dose and continue taking it (maybe 50 mg BID)?
2) I also take Armour 120 mg SID. This seems to be a gray issue as I have read in here of docs switching patients to Synthroid, which has not helped me as much as Armour. Am I OK to continue w/ the Armour?

Hi, Santa Monica,
Welcome!!!
You might want to check out this list Medications to Avoid While on the Marshall Protocol which is under MARSHALL PROTOCOL FAQs Easy Finder & the ABC of MP Perhaps, a more qualified medical person will answer your post.
You can use the Search at the top of each page to look up Armour Thyroid. There have been many comments about that product.
It was suggested to me by my med doc, but I declined. The seemingly thyroid condition that I had, a low body temperature, has gone away with doing the MP. My body temperature is now in the 98.x range.
Wishing you, and all, wellness!!!

Hi Santa Monica,
I'm afraid Spirinolactone (or Spironolactone) is contraindicated on the MP, it's in the list that George mentions of Medications to Avoid. Please see also My potassium is elevated. What should I do? for information on the potassium issue. Your facial lesions may well respond to the MP, though skin conditions can take a long time.
This link, I've developed a rash. What should I do? is about skin problems that develop as immunopathology (herx) on the MP, but it has a lot of useful information on how to handle any skin problems.
Concerning Armour Thyroid, please see (filelink)Thyroid supplementation while on the Marshall Protocol.
Welcome to the MP, and best wishes for your journey! Please ask any further questions here at your own thread, until you actually start the MP.
