Is it possible to have contracted Lyme through a beetle bite NOT a tick?
At the moment, I have found this site and been seeing it as a disease model for chronic infection, which I have been certain my daughter has for 6 years now.
It has been a long story but I guess the answer to my question will define whether I post details here. My thinking is that the beetle feeds on carrion which could be infected.
Now I have a feeling of dread as I post this.

Lorraine,
Please see: How does Th1 inflammation develop? What is successive infection?
Focusing on a single pathogen like Borrelia is counterproductive. If your daughter's immune system was in fact pushed over the edge by an infection acquired from a beetle, she must have been carrying quite a few species already. They all have to go.
The way to know if the MP is what your daughter needs is the D-Metabolites Tests, and/or a therapeutic probe.

Lorraine, perhaps these will be of interest to you...
Post Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome
Is the MP an Applicable Treatment for my Disease?
Will the Marshall Protocol treat co-infections?
Although this describes how stress triggers symptoms in people with hidden Th1 disease, perhaps the insect bite had a similar affect on your daughter's situation...
How does stress affect Th1 inflammation?
By the way, I've never had an official diagnosis for my slowly progressing problems and am doing better on the MP.

Josh,
Whilst I am starting to see that, the problem I have is that my daughter is under a psychiatrist and I am having a hard job to convince them and the GP that there is anything wrong other than a psychiatric condition. I have been convinced that she has infection for six years now and unfortunately have been labelled a neurotic mother!! (As I said VERY long story)
She has recently been dianosed with autoimmune thyroiditis and hypermobility and tests for lupus have come back negative. I feel that I am in the position of having to prove infection before anyone will consider treatment other than the constantly offered but refused anti-psychotics.

Lorraine if your daughter has Th1 inflammation the two Vitamin D tests will reveal it.
Have a look at Josh's link for the tests.

Ah, a diagnosis of autoimmune thyroiditis actually makes things easier. That's an undeniably real physical condition, and one with which the MP has had a lot of success. If you can get your GP to use the MP for the thyroiditis, you'll no doubt find that neurological symptoms improve as well.
And BTW, I don't know if it will do any good, but you could point out to the psychiatrist that the single biggest breakthrough in psychiatric care ever was the introduction of penicillin resulting in the elimination of syphilitic insanity.

That's what I thought - at last proof that there is a physical problem. Hmph got a referral to a top thyroid Professor, due to my feeling at that time that she had Hashimoto's Encephalitis or Cns lupus or small vessel vasculitis or cerebritis etc, etc which I, by then, was sure were one and the same. Anyway gave him a chronological list of symptoms on 2 A4 pages, he looked down them and said he didn't think her thyroid was causing all of these symptoms. Next stop rheumatology - next appointment in January. Meanwhile she is suffering severe daily stress. GRRRRRRRRRR
