My husband just went to the Dr. on the MP list, and was tested for strep in his blood which came back positive. The nurse called and said he was to get 12 IM injections for the strep, 1 each wk for 12 weeks. Can the MP be started along with this? If not he will have to wait for 12 weeks and he is very ill with alot of pain right now--He has been diagnosed with Lyme by one Dr. and RA by another. Thank you for any info.

Medications To Avoid on the Marshall Protocol says:
ATTENTION: If you are taking ANY OTHER ANTIBACTERIALS (Sulfusalazene, Plaquenil and Methotrexate are antibacterials) you MUST discontinue all antibiotics and antibacterials BEFORE you start Benicar. This is because Benicar greatly potentiates the action of many antibiotics, and consequently a severe or life-threatening immune system reaction may result.
See also I need to take a different antibiotic for awhile. What should I do?

Thanks, I got your PM.
Did Doc say what antibiotic he was going to give in these 12 IM injections? Can you give us more info about the test done to find the 'strep' and whether Doc told you the subspecies of strep which was found?
The MP cannot be started while you are getting IM injections of an antibiotic, but my bigger concern is why such a course of action is being recommended.

Ladydi,
Some labs give an indication of the severity of the strep infection. Please ask if Doc has that measure.
We would normally expect folk (coming to us with seriously compromised innate immune systems) to be presenting with other co-infections, such as Babesia and Borrelia. So it is important that Doc determines that the degree of infection is sufficient to put you through the (very painful) intra-muscular course of injections.
