I need help, I am stuck in a very ill state. Tried to go off the Benicar as I got so very ill, but when I went off I got even worse, to the point of feeling like I was close to dying and my pain was even worse. Many, many symptoms. I hate posting - its very hard for me to even get onto the computer as I cannot sit for long.  So now I am back on the Benicar for nearly a week now, but so incredibly sick, I thought I would improve getting back on it, but very little, still v bad state with severe pain. I don't know what to do.

Could Dr Marshall please help me? If you can, can you please do a private email.  If you could read my previous posts please as I just cannot explain it all now. I've been on the MP for five months, very ill to begin with, but have had breaks from the AB's, had to, and last on the ab's over two weeks ago. Only got up to 75mg this time before needing another break. But then just kept getting worse, as above.

Thank you,

Samantha.

Thankyou for your reply. I will have to wait until Mon or Tues as its Saturday here. She does not know much of what has been going on tho as I've been too ill to visit her.  Dr Marshall, do you have the time to read my earlier posts please. Are you able to briefly email me privately?

Thank you very much.

The immune system is not something you can just switch on and off the way you have been trying to do. It had taken your whole life to get to the state it was when you first challenged it with Benicar. By stopping Benicar you remove the organ-protective capabilities  of Benicar yet you leave the immune system re-activated and generating IP.

Although we say to "take breaks" in our guidance, we mean every few years, not every few months.

There is a drug which Doc can prescribe which may help you to wean, and I can discuss that possibility with her.

I felt I had no choice but to go off the ab's. I had read others having breaks frequently.  I can see I should not have gone off the Benicar, but I was desperate and none of things suggested to me had helped. I don't actually want to discontinue the program as it was my last hope.

The ABCofMP has the guidance you needed. Look under "Benicar." It is very important to familiarize yourself with all the educational material we have produced :)

Hi Samantha,

Maybe things are different in New Zeland, but usually doc's have emergency coverage.  How about trying to call her.   It's been a couple of days and I am not trying to be hard on you but you told me how sick you were.  You need to call doc if you are feeling that awful.    The sooner you start to turn this around the sooner you will feel better.

Sheila
