I have been sick with CFS for just under a year. My wife (I'm male) and I are considering having a baby with in the next year. I understand Th1 bacteria can be transferred to the baby.
How does Benicar and low-dose antibiotics affect sperm health?
Can a young couple have a healthy baby while the male is still recovering from CFS on the Marshall Protocol?
Thank you,Last edited on Thu Nov 20th, 2008 18:09 by amichas

I have something to add to this as well, we didn't know until 06 that my husband has Sarc of the lungs and I'm assuming the bacteria was carried through spream so what do I need to look for in my three children? Also don't hold me to it but I thought I read a spouse with Sarc can pass it along to the other spouse, is this true? If so should I have CT Scans, X-Ray's or blood work of some kind done? I'm mainly worried about my children getting this terrible disease, is there an age that Sarc hits? Any info would be great!
Thanks,
Mindy

Mindy,
Please don't get too concerned, as we know what to do now, and knowledge is power
The best test is the D-metabolites. If the kids are being kept away from Vit D then the D metabolites will probably tell you all you need to know. We have kids in the MP study-site cohort, and we know that the MP is as effective in kids as it is in adults. There are special concerns whenever dealing with a pediatric disease, so it is best to cross any bridges when you come to them, and not worry in advance.
Sarc is spread between spouses. The NIH ACCESS study proved that. But far more common is that the 'other' spouse doesn't come down with sarcoidosis, but with CFS / Parkinsons / RA, or some other Th1 condition...
Amichas,
It is not possible to know whether, or in what manner your disease might affect your sperm health. There have been studies showing that Mycobacterium are carried in sperm, and I would expect the Th1 microbiota to be there as well. Benicar and antibiotics are incrementally strengthening your immune system, but it will be years before your body is clear of pathogens. Best not to worry about passing infection to your kids and family. They are going to get the bugs, little by little, from their friends, food, and extended family, in any case. Everybody has to deal with the microbiota eventually, and at least we now know how to do that.
Look at the ABC of MP for more info...
