The biggest problem I have had during the whole process is keeping the weight off.Although the mp diet helps greatly,it still remains that I can't exercise enough to get the desired weight off that my pulmonary Dr.'s is shooting for.I am lucky if I can walk 1/4 of a block one way.My Dr. has recommended a pill called xenical, which takes the fat out of foods. Is this ok for the protocol? He researched this drug and it has nothing in it that would appear to compromise the protocol. Unlike my other home this area doesn't have a heated pool available.thanx

Orlistat is the saturated derivative of lipstatin—a potent natural inhibitor of pancreatic lipases isolated from the bacterium Streptomyces toxytricini

Absorption of fat-soluble vitamins and other fat-soluble nutrients is inhibited by the use of orlistat. A multivitamin tablet containing vitamins A, D, E, K, and beta-carotene should be taken once a day, at bedtime, when using orlistat.

Obesity is a disease. After you treat the disease which is killing you, then, and only then, does it make sense to try and pick off the other disease syndromes (such as obesity) one at a time.

I am really not of a frame of mind to try to explain to your physician why a substance with the above characteristics is certain to hinder your ability to recover from the Th1 metagenomic microbiota. As you conquer the primary disease process in your body, a cascade of other disease syndromes will disappear.

In two weeks time I will be giving a Keynote presentation at an International conference on gene technology in China.

The first few slides of my presentation address specifically why it is meaningless for medicine to continue to look at disease, like Obesity and Sarcoidosis and Lupus and Multiple Sclerosis as discrete and separate entities. They are all syndromes of the one genomic dysfunction - the metagenomic microbiota. That is what has to be dealt with, nothing else.

Until you get to the point of healing that it will be easier to deal with obesity, I have found that a certain pattern of eating can be helpful.

It is described in the book, The 3-Hour Diet, by Jorge Cruise.  The main idea is that you don't go more than three hours without either a small meal (400 cal) or 100 calorie snack (except night time, of course).  It is very flexible in what you can eat.  So, you can do a low or moderately low carb. diet, like the MP recommends (though the book isn't very favorable to a very low carb diet).

The program also does not require exercise as part of it, which is unusual for a diet book.  Anyway, when I gained some pounds after going to Portugal (I find I can gain very easily and quickly if I eat whatever I feel like), I lost it with this diet.

P.S.  I say a bit more about it in my Nov. 2008 post at:

thanx trev,guys,

I will let the pulmologist know.Besides I was finding the use very umm, well anyway thanx.Looking thru the progress link that aussie barb put up for me really took me back and I remember that I lost lots just off the diet from then, about 100 pounds. One thing that I really have noticed and my sister brought this up,is that my memory is very iffy at times,it is becoming selective in what I am remembering, but I do realize that being off the mp for 2 yrs is starting to show,I am very excited about being back and in control of my life.I will stop taking the xenical after I first talk to my dr.,and looking at the link you have provided. He is a very easy dr. to talk to and he approves of anything that allows his patients relief if he feels that it will not be detremental, with the link in hand I know he will see that this is best. again thanx
