I have been looking over the website for a couple of weeks now.  I have been diagnosed with Lyme, CFS, FM, Cervical and Lumbar DDD and DJD with spinal stenosis, GERD, Asthma and Migraines.

My Pain Management Specialist (an MP doc but he monitors very few patients) recommended the MP for me and is referring me to another MP doctor here.  The Pain Mgt Spec asked me to first contact my Rheumatologist (sp?) and let them know what I wanted to do since I am still under her care.

I talked to the Rheumatologists assistant and told her what I wanted to do and she asked me to send them information on the treatment (after she looked at the website and said it was a little confusing!).  I said I would do that but I was going to go ahead and get an appointment with the MP doctor to get started on the blood tests.

So, my question is, since I am already being referred to a doctor that is familiar with the MP but I need to send info to an existing doctor unfamiliar to the MP, what do you recommend?

I appreciate any help!  Thanks!

Leah

Hi Leah,

It's great that you've found a doc willing to prescribe the MP.  For your rheumatologist, see Suggestions To Get Your Doctor On Board With the MP which has links to some introductory info - select a few items and print them out.

"What is the Marshall Protocol?"

Simple Explanations

Post Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome - Definition, symptoms, transmission, testing, treatment, MP Member experiences.

(filelink) CFS success stories

Papers for Physicians

D-metabolites tests

Bacteriality - a readable blog-style website by one of our members, with science-made-easy articles, an introductory 90-minute video, and interviews with recovering patients - an excellent introduction to the MP.

Please ask any further questions here at your own personal thread :)

Thank you Julia!

I appreciate the help very much and all of the links to the information!

I did not mention it before but my Rheumatologist did not diagnose anything other than cervical and lumbar ddd and djd.  She believes that all my symptoms are from my cervical disc disease and a pinched nerve!

I had a D.O., practicing alternative medicine, that diagnosed me with Lyme through a saliva test.  Don't know how that works.  All other tests for Lupus, RA etc have come back negative.

Have you heard of anyone being tested with a saliva test and I guess I wonder now if it really even matters if the 1,25 D is elevated - is that correct?

Two years ago my CRP and SED were elevated some and I was basically bedridden.  When I finally found the alternative doc I went through IV Hydrogen Peroxide and Vitamin C treatments and a chinese herb, Coptis and mega doses of vitamins, herbal anti-inflammatories and 2-3000 IU of Vitamin D daily for about a year or so.  I was also taking Hydrocortisone.  I began having a reaction to the IV treatments and stopped those and honestly, just got tired of taking so many supplements.

I have been doing ok for several months and I am now functioning at about 75-80% but have begun having a return of the first symptoms from January 2006.

I don't want to go through all of that again!

A long ramble but thanks for letting me have a place to vent my fears.

Hi Leah,

The only thing that really matters when determining if you have Th1 disease and the Marshall Protocol is right for you are the D-metabolites tests Julia mentioned above (you can get help analysing them in How to post your D-metabolites tests results).

Your supportive Doctor may also like to do a therapeutic probe if the results of the D-metabolites tests are not convincing enough for him/her.
What is a therapeutic probe?

I assume you are off all the supplements now, but just incase -
Why do I have to stop my alternative treatment and avoid most supplements?

Take care & best of luck,
Natalie

Hi Natalie,

Thanks so much! I appreciated reading your story.  I hope you continue to make great improvement day by day.  It is inspiring!

I am off all supplements now but I still take Armour Thyroid,  Soma, a muscle relaxant for the muscle spasms in my body but mainly in neck and shoulders, Prometrium (progesterone) and Darvocet but it doesn't seem to help much.

I understand that I will need to come off the Prometrium too and that my doctor will have to help me know when to come off the Thyroid.

I probably overestimated my percentage of functioning as I am realizing today but I tend to be over optimistic about what I can and can't do.

I am hoping for the opportunity for the Therapeutic Probe.  So far no appt yet.  I hope to find out something definite tomorrow.
