| On the Today Show this AM a woman stated that mom's who breastfeed need to give their babies vitamin D because there is not enough in breast milk. This was most alarming to me. If a baby comes from a mom with a Th 1 disorder then this child faces ultimate doom if Vit D is supplemented. I wish Dr. Marshall could get the information to the Today Show about how bad this is. What happened to the fact that mother's milk is perfect. Where does all this crap come from?

I share your concern. And if mum doesn't breastfeed, all the baby milks have vit D added. Presumably it comes from the publicity guys at Big Industry selling vit D supplements. Or is that very cynical of me?
Maybe that's where it all started for most of us

| I just saw this report on my local news and it's been recommended that children need double the amount of Vit D to fight off cancer, stronger bones and over all better health.

Sorry, I know this should be on my own thread, but I wanted to put it on the main board. The American Academy of Pediatrics is now recommending doubling the RDA for Vitamin D from 200U a day to 400U a day from infancy through teenagers.
I know that medicine is light years behind science, but with all of Dr. Marshall's research and presentations, why aren't they catching on to the damage vitamin D supplements have caused?
Thanks, and sorry again for posting separate from my own thread.

depressing aint it? Reminds me that after radioactivity was discovered there was a health fad for drinking radioactive water
I saw a newspaper report last weekon significant vitamin D deficiency in Mental (un)-Health patients. Now 'they' are thinking of possibly putting Manic depressives and schizophrenia sufferers on the high Ds. These people are already hooked on tobacco as a palliative. I'm ashamed to say I even encouraged people to use omega 3 capsules (July my fridge is full of the stuff and I think I'd be better off using it to clean tools and oil hinges than to give it away)
What logic ! Give steroidal substances to the unstable.
A week ago while in hospital waiting room (unrelated matter) I saw an article on improving diet for the elderly and the importance of D-dosing customers in the old folks home.
None of these individuals are in much of a position to resist this well-meaning abuse, Sheila's and Mindy's target populations in particular . Lind is thinking ahead also .
Sheila you have such a good point: the older I get, the more I think if it isn't natural, "be afraid, be very afraid".
Have the martians taken over? I only cheered up when I realised that we represent Dorothy and the 20th C. medical establishment is the Wizard of Oz...sooner or later the illusions will be dispelled. Hopefully ...Sallie

Hello Th1...
the older I get, the more I think if it isn't natural, "be afraid, be very afraid".
The issue isn't whether a substance is natural, it's whether its effects are correctly understood. Plenty of natural substances will kill you dead, and olmesartan is hardly naturally occurring.

Point taken, Josh, but I think we were talking about food and drink here// I like the following, particularly since I have already been caught a couple of times buying something which appeared to be good old fashioned food until I
a) pened the packet
b) read the fine print
Meg quotes Michael Pollen
1. Eat food. Though in our current state of confusion, this is much easier said than done. So try this: Don't eat anything your great-great-grandmother wouldn't recognize as food. regards Sallie
