Hi

Would someone be so kind as to clear up the confusion which apparently  makes Benicar/Olmetec  used in larger doses than one a day, seem like a senseless risk and how difficult it is to find a doctor willing to offer to help me escape from the prison of Prednisone.

My own specialist, and several other medics  and even the MD of Sankyo do not approve of it beyond this dosing.  Is there any way I could have this weary matter clarified here in Professor Marshall's territory, particularly at a point when the MP is obviously starting to fly for so many recovering. Yet this issue seems set in concrete.

Hi wishlist,

Benicar is not used in the MP for its blood-pressure-lowering effect. This effect reaches its maximum at around one 40 mg tablet per day, and this is the maximum dose with which most doctors will be familiar.

The MP uses Benicar as a VDR agonist and an anti-inflammatory. For these purposes, you need to use a higher dose than you would use to lower blood pressure.

Sankyo's submissions to the FDA show that Benicar is extremely safe even at much higher levels than those used by the MP.

Please read Benicar-Basic Information for more complete explanations.

Wishlist,

My teen daughter has been on the protocol for 2 months.  Her BP was low for about 1 month.  Now it is normal every day at 40mg of olmecip every 4-8h daily and she is getting better.  Without the MP, she would have been losing her eyesight, using ocular steroid drops daily, suffering from arthralgias and declining health and the only other drugs available to her would have been  dangerous,  injectionable  immunosuppressants known to cause cancer in teens and children.

A simple thank you hardly seems enough to our MP supportive physician, Trevor and  the fabulous group of volunteers here on the study site.

A Grateful Mom and Daughter

Hi Wishlist,

Welcome :)

Suggest seeing/showing your Doctor -

Firstly,  the Benicar-Basic Information that Josh mentioned above will be great for your Doctor.

Also,

Benicar applications beyond anti-hypertension
Links to published articles about usefulness of Benicar/Olmesartan

A recent paper should keep Doc comfortable about higher dose ARBs-
Long-term safety of high-dose angiotensin receptor blocker therapy in hypertensive patients with chronic kidney disease

If no Doctor you see is willing to take on the Marshall Protocol, you may liek to request a list of Doctors for your area -

Best of luck and let us know if we can be of any more assistance,
Natalie

Thank you for the links. I now feel I have a better understanding and a complete answer to my questions.

I need to look for a specialist here but first, my GP has said he can give me Benicar at one a day until i find a doctor to take me on board with the MP.  I know this does not come close to the therapeutic dose of Benicar  but for now, could it do any harm to take one a day, or maybe one 40mg plus 20mg sub lingual, and could this dose assist me to wean from my Prednisone or at least take me part of the way there. I really want to stop the Pred.

Hi Wishlist,

Please see;
Weaning From Steroid Medications
Essential guideline - please print this out so yoiu can refer to it often for your safety and discuss it with a supportive Doctor before taking any action.

Also suggest you see - Benicar dosage and schedules

Which states;

Do not take a low dose of Benicar. See Why shouldn’t we ramp up the dose of Benicar?

You are likely to feel worse only taking 1 Benicar a day - I have seen it happen to others who have tried this.

Take care,
Natalie
