Dear folks,
I have a great friend, he's 66 years old, been an active outdoorsman and has a huge family, strong work ethic. He's had IBS for 2 years, a rash on his shins for a year, and now pain in the hylar region of his lungs, and has gone pretty untreated until recently when he was prescribed steroid creams for his shin rash which was pretty nasty. It controlled the rash but now the pain in his lungs is worsening, and stomach problems are worsening. I am sure he has sarcoidosis and wonder what I could give him to convince him to get on the MP, as its killing me to watch this sweet man slowly dying. Is there a collection of studies? I advised him to get off the steroid creams and start a benicar blockade immediately, and would like to know the tests that he should get to confirm a possible sarc. diagnosis. He is ready to just work and suffer until he can't work anymore, pretty wanting to avoid the whole thing and just suffer silently. I can't let this happen to his family. I am sure the steroids are destroying his immune system and will lead to greater steroid dependency. Any ideas? Thanks, Dave

Dave,
Pushing for a sarc diagnosis might be counter-productive. Sarc is notably hard to diagnose.
IBS by itself is enough of a problem, and the MP does fix that. The D-tests might help confirm that the MP will help.
Take my advice with a grain of salt. I've only seen folks I didn't know well look at the MP seriously after I tell them about it. All my family (wife excepted) think I'm nuts when I suggest it could help their auto-immune ills. And even the wife needed a couple of years of discussion and experience. If there's scandinavian genes involved, I have no idea how to get through that level of stubborn.
Chris

Dave, think back to what documents you found the most helpful when you were first investigating the MP. Add Hypervitaminosis-D Symptoms and Sarcoidosis Facts. Print them out for your friend, give him the link for Bacteriality.com, and then you really have to let him do the rest. As Chris says, the response may not be what you would like, but you'll have done your best.
Some of my friends/family members appear to have Th1 inflammatory symptoms. What should they do?
Which diagnostic tests do I need?

Hi,
Thanks for the advice, but most of the stuff I found was on the NIH and I can't locate them anymore. The MP doc here in Fairbanks is not taking any new patients for a long time, so there is no resource here. I have 2 friends with Graves disease, taking some type of blockader, and was wondering if the MP has worked on this disease and where to research this for them. Thanks, Dave
