Actually, there is a new MP recipie site up, since I will be getting away from the ad-infested Yahoo site. Have a look here for recipes:
http://www.mp-recipes.com/mp_recipes.html
I'm hoping to get more "MP lifestyles" on the site soon, but things have been hectic around here. If you go to the home page there, you won't see anything but placeholders and the link to the recipes.

Jon,
Well done for spreading the word about just what chronic disease means to a formerly normal person. I wonder if the best link to give your friend would be Bacteriality.com? It may be easier to read than the study site, and has a lot of interviews with recovering patients, and relatively simple explanations of a very complex subject. A good starting place would be http://bacteriality.com/about-the-mp/. There's also a video at http://bacteriality.com/2008/05/07/mpintro/
Hope this helps.

Question: Can our partners be a bacterial host? Having the same partner for years (20 in my case), can my spouse not be a host for the bacteria causing my RA? Once I've started the MP, would it not be counter productive subjecting myself intimately to a possible reinfection? Should we get our spouses to commit to the protocol?
Jon

Jon,
All that walk this planet find pathogens. This info may be helpful:
How does Th1 inflammation develop? What is successive infection?
Am I contagious?
Will re-infection occur if my partner or family members are not treated?
Some of my family members appear to have Th1 inflammatory symptoms. What should they do?
Can reinfection occur once we are healed?
I see some advantage in everybody getting well, don't you?
Best to you Jon--Janet

Great News! I applied to get into the study and I was accepted. My sunglasses are on their way and I have a prescription in hand requesting my D's tests. My next
question is, since I am doing a walk in to a test lab, do I have them send it to quest, do I bring in the info specifically stateing how the test will be performed or what. I had my doctor mail me the script so I could have the results prior to our next meeting which I presume I will be given my Rx for Benicar/Mino. Also, I was considering a more sporty pair of sunglasses. I couldn't find this "Jim Hidalgo's" contact info. Anyone mind giving me the contact number? Also, If I choose a large hat to go outside, should it also be Black as is the suggested color for clothes? Jon

Jon,
Good for you! Be sure you register on the study site using the same name as you are using here.
D-metabolites tests
Has all the information and Quest diagnostic information. You do want to print out the instructions for your doctor and lab tech. In addition, I have found it is helpful to know the details yourself so you can talk to a lab tech, some are not always aware of Quest's stringent requirements and have been surprised they vary from labs they might be more familiar with.
UnitedHealth Is Pressuring Doctors to Use LabCorp
Be sure to read this link too, see if it applies to your insurance.
Protecting Your Eyes
Has information on lenses. Frames for the fashion-lifestyle are available and some have had specially ground lenses provided by NoIR for different frames. Peripheral light is the issue you might miss if you are not careful though, so you might want to at least have some NoIR or equivalents available at the beginning.
Clothes are made of rather thin material, and black has some value to avoid reflected light. (Still, the goal is opacity and nothing beats a house with covered windows for opacity.) For a hat which is usually made of thicker material, the goal is not as much color as opacity.
Best to you Jon--Janet

Hi Jon,
Have you started avoidling light and D in foods? This may seemingly increase your symptoms when it's actually IP. I know just before I started Benicar I seemed to get the flu & was worried.. in my case, started the Benicar actually settled the symptoms.
See Should I wear NoIRs, avoid natural light exposure and eliminate vitamin D before starting Benicar?
Also, How does Benicar work?
Good luck on your journey Jon,
Natalie

Does anyone know if there is Milk available w/out Vit. D? I am personally staying away from Dairy, but I thought it might be a healthier choice for my family. Jon

i went to Quest labs had my blood drawn for my D's testing. I have been doing the AP method using Vibramycin for a year. I have been accepted into the study program here and am wondering what my protocol will be for quitting the Vibramycin and preparing to start the Benicar. Should I wait a few days before starting Benicar after haveing stopped Vibr. ? Jon

Jon,
According to the Marshall Protocol Phase 1 Guidelines (see Step 5 beginning page 4) and Medications to Avoid, you are correct, you will want to carefully address the current antibiotics you are using, and definitely avoid mixing protocols.
If you have been accepted into the study, then you will want to post specific prescription questions in your own progress report thread (Benicar Only Forum) that are not answered already in the general information.
(Tip for all who read: if all of us choose the good habit of reading first, then asking for clarification if needed after that, we might help lighten the load of nurse moderators).
Details for your D-metabolites tests:
How to post your D-metabolites tests results
Best to you Jon--Janet

| Jon, I would wait 4-7 days after stopping the doxycycline before starting the Benicar. As Janet suggested, recommend to start a progress report asap, before starting Benicar. best, P.B.

I was reading that there is no necesity to wean from the MP if you are required to take a break. However, after reading different forums, it appear that the body may continue to fight the little buggers, having been made aware or the bacterial presence. Does that not leave your organs and such in jeopardy?
